Alicante Local Police Adds Nine New Patrol Cars to Fleet

The Alicante Local Police is set to receive nine new hybrid SUV patrol vehicles in the near future, following the approval of an open procurement procedure by the Local Government Board. With a budget of 392,471 euros allocated for this purpose, the Councilor for Security, Julio Calero, highlights the city council’s commitment to ensuring that officers have access to the best resources for their work.

Calero emphasizes the importance of continuously renewing and updating both personal equipment and the vehicle fleet of the Local Police. The introduction of these new vehicles will not only reinforce the existing fleet but also replace older or less efficient vehicles. This investment is part of a larger plan to enhance the overall capabilities of the police force and improve their working conditions.

In addition to the nine hybrid SUV patrol vehicles, the city council has plans to acquire three ‚pick ups‘ for rural areas, a van for neighborhoods, and more patrol cars in the near future. These additions to the police vehicle fleet are a part of a comprehensive strategy to modernize and optimize the operations of the Local Police in Alicante.

The recent approval of a modification of credits in the 2024 municipal budget included an additional 589,675.91 euros for the purchase of new vehicles and 343,750 euros for communication equipment for the Local Police. This financial support demonstrates the city council’s commitment to providing the necessary resources for law enforcement to effectively carry out their duties.

Furthermore, the recent acquisition of 10 motorcycles and improvements in officers‘ personal security equipment, such as ballistic protection vests and semi-automatic handguns, further underscore the city council’s dedication to enhancing the capabilities and safety of the Local Police in Alicante.

Overall, the investment in new hybrid SUV patrol vehicles and other resources for the Local Police in Alicante reflects a proactive approach to law enforcement and public safety. By prioritizing the modernization and improvement of equipment and vehicles, the city council is ensuring that the police force is well-equipped to handle the challenges of policing in a dynamic urban environment.
