Arabic Language Sports Programme Launched by School

The Hayya Ilal Arabiyah programme was officially launched yesterday at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School (SUAMPRIPAHS), marking the beginning of a unique initiative that combines Arabic language learning with sports and recreational activities. The programme was inaugurated by Haji Ayop bin Haji Ghani, the Acting Assistant Director of the Professional Division at the Islamic Studies Department (JPI), highlighting the importance of integrating language education with practical and engaging experiences.

In her welcoming speech, Dayangku Aidi Noorintan binti Pengiran Haji Md Zinin, the programme chairperson and acting principal of SUAMPRIPAHS, emphasized that the Hayya Ilal Arabiyah programme is part of an annual initiative by the Co-Curriculum Division of the JPI, managed by Madaris Arabiyyah. This year, the school collaborated with the Sports and Recreation Unit of the Co-Curriculum Division to introduce a new approach to learning Arabic, aiming to spark students‘ interest in the language and enhance their speaking skills and confidence.

The theme for this year’s programme, ‚Arabic through Sports‘, is designed to not only improve students‘ Arabic language skills but also to foster a love for sports among female students. By combining language learning with sports activities, the programme aims to promote teamwork, healthy competition, and introduce new Arabic vocabulary related to sports, games, and health. The ultimate goal is to create a fun and engaging learning environment that will inspire students to actively participate and communicate in Arabic.

The morning’s activities were structured around the concept of Mukhayyamat ar-Riadhah (sports house camps), where students were divided into four houses and tasked with preparing carnival-themed games labeled and instructed in Arabic. This hands-on approach not only reinforces language learning but also encourages students to apply their knowledge in a practical setting, promoting active participation and collaboration among peers.

Through the Hayya Ilal Arabiyah programme, students at SUAMPRIPAHS have the opportunity to engage in a holistic learning experience that combines language education with sports and recreational activities. By integrating Arabic language learning with practical and engaging experiences, the programme aims to not only improve students‘ language skills but also instill a love for sports and teamwork. With a focus on communication, teamwork, and vocabulary building, the programme sets a strong foundation for students to develop their language proficiency and confidence in using Arabic in various contexts.
