Nepal Telecom expands FTTH service to 77 districts following successful launch in Humla


Nepal Telecom (NTC) has been making significant strides in expanding its FTTH fiber internet service across the country. Initially available in Kathmandu, the high-speed internet service has now reached 77 districts in Nepal, with the latest expansion in Simikot, the headquarters of Humla. This expansion marks a major milestone in the company’s efforts to create a digital Nepal and provide internet connectivity to all government offices.

At an event at the Communication Ministry, Communication Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung virtually inaugurated the FTTH fiber service in Humla. He emphasized the importance of this achievement and thanked Nepal Telecom for its commitment to expanding its services. Radhika Aryal, Chairman of Nepal Telecom Board of Directors, and Secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, also expressed gratitude to all those involved in providing these services and called for continued support to enhance service effectiveness.

Nepal Telecom Managing Director Sangita Pahadi highlighted the shift from copper technology to fiber internet in Humla, ensuring high-quality service even in remote areas like Karnali. The company is focused on upgrading service quality, especially as access to roads and electricity improves in these regions. With the introduction of FTTH fiber internet in Humla, customers can expect better internet, telephone, and television services in the near future.

The expansion of FTTH services in Mugu, Dolpa, and East Rukum demonstrates Nepal Telecom’s commitment to consistent service expansion. By replacing copper-based services with an FTTH fiber network, the company aims to provide high-speed broadband, voice, and IPTV services through Triple Play. This approach ensures better communication services for customers and contributes to the overall digital transformation of Nepal.

With the availability of Ntc Fiber Internet in 77 districts, Nepal Telecom has achieved full coverage of fiber communication across the country. Customers can now enjoy triple play services through the Fiber FTTH line, including high-speed internet, telephone, and IPTV. Compared to traditional copper-based lines, FTTH offers superior quality voice and internet services due to the use of optical fiber and IP-based technology.
