Private Sector and PDRF Provide Aid to Communities Affected by Typhoon Carina

In response to the recent disasters brought about by the enhanced southwest monsoon and Super Typhoon Carina, the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) and its private sector network have come together to provide aid and support to affected communities. One such initiative involved Shell Pilipinas Corporation volunteers, alongside PDRF President Butch Meily, distributing hygiene kits to families in the evacuation center in Rizal.

The PDRF, in collaboration with local and international corporations, businesses, and philanthropic organizations, has been actively supporting emergency responders and distributing essential supplies to those in need. The efforts have been focused on providing food, water, relief packs, and hygiene kits to affected communities.

Shell Pilipinas Corporation generously donated and distributed 500 hygiene kits to families in Rizal, with the assistance of the PDRF team and President Butch Meily. Additionally, the Peace and Equity Foundation contributed hygiene kits worth Php 250,000 for 275 families in the same area, which were also distributed by PDRF. Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc. donated 900 7-liter water bottles to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in Rizal, while the Jollibee Group Foundation provided 500 lunch meals to the Department of Social Welfare and Development National Resource Operations Center. The PhilSeven Foundation, Inc. also initiated meal assistance efforts in Bulacan.

In terms of logistics and transportation support, the Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation, Inc. pre-positioned fiberglass boats for rescue operations, while Nissan offered vehicular assistance to the PDRF response team. These contributions have been crucial in ensuring the efficient delivery of aid to those in need.

Furthermore, monetary pledges and support have also been pouring in from various organizations. PepsiCo, Inc. committed a $10,000 monetary donation to support early recovery projects for families affected by the disasters. These financial contributions play a vital role in facilitating the ongoing relief and recovery efforts.

As the situation continues to evolve, PDRF remains at the forefront of coordinating these relief efforts and providing updates to member companies and partner organizations. The focus is now shifting towards recovery and rehabilitation initiatives to help communities rebuild and recover from the devastation caused by the recent disasters.

The Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) serves as a crucial private sector vehicle for disaster resilience in the country. Through its alliance of businesses dedicated to building disaster risk management capabilities, PDRF aims to contribute to the sustainable development and general welfare of the Filipino people.
