Top 6 Food and Drink Events in Dallas this Week

There’s a cafe in Duncanville that is not just serving up coffee, but also fostering meaningful conversations and community connections. Kingsmen Coffee, located at 714 W. Wheatland Rd. in the Cedar Square shopping center, opened its doors in late April. The cafe is the brainchild of owners Jimmy Morris and Eric Brown, who initially had plans for a cigar lounge but ultimately decided that coffee would be the perfect medium to bring people together.

The menu at Kingsmen Coffee offers a variety of coffee options, including lattes, espresso, cappuccinos, drip coffee, and specialty drinks like the Cinna-Liscious latte and caramel macchiato. Non-coffee drinkers can enjoy refreshing teas, chai, and matcha lattes, with the option to customize flavors and choose from a selection of non-dairy milks. Prices at Kingsmen Coffee range from $1.50 for espresso to $7.45 for seasonal lattes, making it an affordable choice for coffee enthusiasts.

In addition to their coffee offerings, Kingsmen Coffee also serves a selection of food items, such as waffles, cinnamon rolls, and pastries. Recently, they have expanded their menu to include savory croissant sandwiches to cater to the lunch crowd. Sandwich options include the king club, chicken bacon & ranch, king chicken salad, and classic ham & cheese, all served with chips and a drink for $9-$15.

Beyond just food and drink, Kingsmen Coffee aims to be a hub for community engagement and networking. The cafe hosts poetry nights, business networking events, and meet-and-greets with local figures like Duncanville ISD superintendent Doctor T. Lamar Goree. Additionally, Kingsmen Coffee offers unique amenities such as a podcasting space for rent and a private meeting room for arts and business events during operating hours.

One of the core values of Kingsmen Coffee is to serve as a resource for children in the community. Morris envisions creating programs to educate children on the logistics of operating a coffee shop, instilling valuable skills and discipline. The name „Kingsmen“ is inspired by the Book of Ruth in the Bible, specifically chapter four, which emphasizes the importance of a gathering place for people to come together and congregate.

Overall, Kingsmen Coffee is more than just a place to grab a cup of coffee – it’s a space where meaningful conversations are sparked, connections are made, and the community is brought together. With its welcoming atmosphere, diverse menu offerings, and commitment to community engagement, Kingsmen Coffee is truly taking coffee and conversations to new heights in Duncanville.
