Transjakarta Continues to Innovate: Preparing Health Centers, Application Features, and Electric Vehicles

Transjakarta’s President Director, Welfizon Yuza, is leading the way in transforming public transportation in Jakarta. On August 28, 2024, PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) and the University of Indonesia signed a cooperation agreement for the establishment of a mental health center and a new payment system. The signing ceremony took place at the Tosari Bus Stop in Menteng, Central Jakarta.

One of the key initiatives is the establishment of a mental health center at the M. H. Thamrin Bus Stop. This innovative approach aims to utilize bus stops as public spaces that can also serve as health centers. Welfizon Yuza, the President Director of Transjakarta, emphasized the importance of this collaboration with other companies to operate the mental health center effectively.

In addition to the mental health center, Transjakarta is also focusing on strengthening its payment ecosystem by transitioning to digital payments through the tj:transjakarta mobile application. This app will allow users to purchase tickets and access other services conveniently. The app can be downloaded from the Playstore and IOS platforms.

One of the standout features of the tj:transjakarta app is the ability for users to track all Transjakarta fleet vehicles in real-time, including buses, MRT, and Mikrotrans. The app will also provide updates on any route closures or protests that may affect the transportation system.

The official launch of the tj:transjakarta app is scheduled for September, in collaboration with the Jakarta Provincial Government. Despite the official launch date being in the future, over 100,000 users have already downloaded the app, showing a strong interest in the new digital platform.

Welfizon Yuza also revealed that Transjakarta has signed agreements to add more electric buses to its fleet. By December 2023, 100 electric buses were already in operation, with plans to increase this number to 300 by the end of 2024. What sets these new electric buses apart is that 200 of them will be dedicated to specific corridors, improving efficiency and reducing emissions.

As part of Transjakarta’s fleet renewal strategy, Welfizon plans to continue adding electric vehicles to the lineup. The Jakarta Provincial Government has set a target for Transjakarta to serve 100% of its passengers with electric vehicles by 2030. Welfizon also announced plans to pilot electric Mikrotrans by the end of the year, further demonstrating Transjakarta’s commitment to sustainable and innovative transportation solutions.

In conclusion, Welfizon Yuza’s leadership at Transjakarta is driving significant advancements in public transportation in Jakarta. From the establishment of mental health centers at bus stops to the introduction of a digital payment system and the expansion of electric buses, Transjakarta is setting a new standard for sustainable and efficient urban transportation. With these initiatives, Transjakarta is not only improving the commuting experience for passengers but also contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment for all residents of Jakarta.
